Thanks to Lawrence Alcohol and Drug Alliance for the $2000 grant towards the 2009 event!
Project Graduation Receives Grant from Lawrence Alcohol and Drug Alliance
Project Graduation, the annual substance-free, all-night celebration for Lawrence High School seniors on the night of graduation, has received a grant of $2,000 from the Lawrence Alcohol and Drug Alliance to help pay the cost of this year’s celebration.
The grant comes as Project Graduation announces the organization’s new non-profit tax exempt status as a 501 c (3) and committee volunteers continue efforts to solicit area businesses to sponsor specific events of their choosing, to donate gifts or products or to contribute to the general fund. A variety of fund-raising activities also help raise the more than $25,000 required to pay for the all-night festivities to be held on June 24 at the school, following graduation ceremonies earlier in the day at Sovereign Bank Arena.
“We are truly grateful that Lawrence Alcohol and Drug Alliance recognize the important tradition of Project Graduation that brings our graduating seniors together in a safe, drug-free and alcohol-free environment. We are thrilled to be able to count of the Alliance’s continuing support” said Mary Ann O’Brien, chair of Project Graduation. All businesses or individuals wishing to make a tax deductible donation or to help in the volunteer effort may contact O’Brien at 584-1236.
